Citizenship Department
The role of the Citizenship Department is to deliver the Citizenship National Curriculum across the College.Citizenship is taught by a team of specialists.
This involves teaching pupils about their rights and responsibilities at local, national and international levels. This subject also allows pupils to play an active role in their school and local community. Pupils are actively encouraged to take part in events that promote self-awareness, political awareness and social development. several pupils continue studying the subject as an extra GCSE.
Perhaps one of our abiding features is our promotion and participation in extra-curricular activities. These include:
Kid Witness News (Film-making) – National Competition
Student Voice's Stockport Youth Council
Overall, the Citizenship Department is pro-active and positively encourages
young people to learn and then to take their acquired knowledge and
use it to make informed decisions in school and in their local community.
Pupils are encouraged to think before they act and to make sensible
choices.
