Rewards Policy
The rewards policy of the MFL ties in with the school wide policy of assertive discipline. All students are encouraged to produce their best work at all time and pupils working well are rewarded appropriately.
Rewards in Year 7
- Verbal praise in the target language
- Rewards related to assertive discipline techniques 9 whole class or individual rewards
- Letters home to parents
- Phone calls home to parents for particularly good work
- Assertive Discipline cards
- Each pupil studying German has a drawing of the Reichstag building in the
back of her/his book. If that pupil produces a piece of good written work than
the teacher signs one of the pieces of the building. When the pupil has all of
his/her building signed then they are given a MFL certificate of achievement.
Pupils studying French have a drawing of the Eiffel Tower in their books.
Rewards in Year 8 and 9
- As above (excluding the last) +
- If a pupil produces a good piece of written work a '10 Euro' stamp is stuck next to that piece of work. At the end of each half term the pupil's count up how many 'Euros' they have. The teacher then finds the two pupils in the class who have the most Euros. The names of all these pupils in the year group are then given in and are put into a 'hat'. Two names are drawn out. Those pupils are given a £5 CD/book token for Borders bookshop.
