Intent
The Citizenship curriculum aim to provide pupils with academic excellence and the understanding required to play an active role in society today and understand our key values in Britain. The skills and content covered are both inclusive and aspirational, inspiring students to challenge their limits, and understand the principles outlined in the Citizenship National Curriculum, alongside additional units which help pupils understand issues that are happening in Britain and around the world. The curriculum explores a variety of real life issues, and focuses on students’ personal growth, whilst learning and respecting the views of others around them.

Feedback Policy
The primary purpose of feedback is to move pupils on with their learning. Pupils receive feedback on their learning in a number of different ways, both formally and informally.
Formative assessment takes place every lesson in many forms including:
- Low stakes quizzing
- Live marking in lessons
- Questioning
- Peer and self-assessment (green pen)
- Examination style questions
Dual coding marking is used to highlight strengths and areas for development, pupils are given clear feedforward to action following the assessment.
Pupils are provided with detailed written feedback on longer pieces of written work and key pieces. Next steps marking is implemented, alongside other techniques to promote learning and progress. Pupils are expected to respond to their feedback and make improvements to their work by acting upon it immediately using purple pen.
