If you live in Stockport or in a different local authority area and want to move your child from their current school to a different school in Stockport during the school year, you’ll need to apply via Stockport Council School Admissions online admissions system using this link https://www.stockport.gov.uk/changing-schools-during-school-year

In Year Transfer Application Open Dates

Autumn term 2025

1 September 2025 to 10 October 2025
31 October 2025 to 5 December 2025

Spring term 2026

2 January 2026 to 30 January 2026
20 February 2026 to 13 March 2026
10 April 2026 to 8 May 2026

Summer term 2026

5 June 2026 to 21 June 2026, to start before the summer holidays
18 June 2026 to 3 July 2026, to start secondary school in September 2026
26 June 2026 to 10 July 2026, to start primary school in September 2026

If you want to apply to transfer to a school in another council (such as Manchester City Council), you’ll need to contact the council that the school resides in to discuss their process for changing schools during the school year.

If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan and you live in Stockport, you do not need to apply online. Email specialeducation@stockport.gov.uk or call 0161 474 2525.
