Parents' Forum

As soon as your child starts at Reddish Vale High School we welcome you to join our Parents’ Forum.  The Parents’ Forum has been established for four years and contributes regularly and positively to the development of school policy.

The purpose of the Parents’ Forum is to work in partnership with Reddish Vale High School to comment on our curriculum, communication, website and homework. In addition, we would like parents to help to promote the school by publicising and helping out at school events such as Open Evenings, Consultation Evenings and School Productions etc.

The Parents’ Forum would normally meet five times per year and new members are very welcome. Members of the forum are invited to request agenda items prior to each meeting and the school will schedule other discussion points for information and consultation.

If you are interested in joining the Parents’ Forum please contact Lynn Moores by emailing
 l.moores@reddish.stockport.sch.uk In the first instance.

Parents Forum 2022-23 Feedback

You Asked - What does the school do to tackle bullying in school?
We Said - Mrs Knowles (Pastoral Lead) presented the school systems to tackle bullying.

You Asked – How are pupils grouped in subjects such as Maths and what impact does this have on progress?

We Said - The Head of Maths shared the educational research from the Education Endowment Foundation and rationale for current mixed attainment groupings and the impact this is having on pupil progress.

You Asked - What is the ClassCharts Parent App and how does it work?

We Said - The Designated Safeguarding Lead explained how the app works and took queries from parents. The invite to all parents / carers has been sent to all contacts to invite them to join.

We Asked You - What adaptations should we make to the school’s uniform to support families and make it as affordable as possible.

You Said - Remove the requirement for branding on the skirt and jumper. You suggested running a uniform exchange or pre-loved shop termly.  We will update you soon on progress with this. Parents also suggested a standard blazer with a sew on badge as a cheaper alternative.

You Asked - What is the policy on pupils using the toilet facilities in school?

We Said - Ms Forsyth (Associate Assistant Headteacher) explained the facilities that the school has and the current system for pupils accessing the toilets between lessons and during lessons for emergencies. You shared your suggestions about how to possibly improve the system.

You Asked - What is the intervention offer to support pupils?

We Said - Key information was shared with parents who requested it at the meeting, but this item will be on the agenda again after Christmas.

Additional Questions Raised - How will parents get sufficient information from school about the progress of pupils in Year 10 when the consultation evening is so late in the year?
